According to previous investigations, this recommended coverage is always not achieved in Burkina Faso. This study was carried out to investigate reasons for poor vaccination coverage in canine population. Using a structured questionnaires, a cross-sectional survey was conducted in the city of Bobo Dioulasso to capture data on drivers that affect dog owners' individual decision to vaccinate or not their dogs. Through a house-to-house approach, 239 questionnaires were administrated to dog owners during face to face interviews. The results indicated dog rabies vaccination coverage of 25.9%. Dog breed, origin and confinement status had a significant association with vaccination status (p less then 0.05). Owners of exotic and cross-bred dogs were more likely to adopt vaccination compared to owners of local-bred dogs. Dogs of bought origin were significantly more likely to be vaccinated among all dogs. Household characteristics including age of owners, level of education, employment status, means of transportation, perception of vaccination cost and level of knowledge about rabies were significantly associated with the vaccination status (p less then 0.05). The oldest dog owners, the owners having high level of education, having a car as means of transportation, having good knowledge of rabies and dog rabies vaccination, being employed and perceiving vaccination cost as affordable were more likely to vaccinate their dogs. Combining community awareness and free dog rabies vaccination approaches could improve the vaccination coverage.Systems for "protein transduction," intracellular delivery of functional proteins, are needed to address deliverability challenges of protein therapeutics. However, in vivo protein transduction remains challenging because of instability in serum, extracellular protease digestion and rapid excretion from the bloodstream. Here, a magnetically guided in vivo protein transduction using magnetic nanogel chaperone (MC) composed of iron oxide nanoparticles and a polysaccharide nanogel, a protein carrier inspired by "catch and release" mechanisms of molecular chaperones is demonstrated. The MC system enables efficient delivery of anti-cancer proteins, saporin and RNaseA, into cultured tumor lines and inhibits cell proliferation, mainly via apoptosis. Magnetic in vivo protein transduction via intravenous whole body administration is demonstrated in a fibrosarcoma model. By in vivo optical imaging, MC accumulated in tumor tissues under magnetic field three times more than without irradiation. With subcutaneous injection, saporin is delivered by MC to the cytoplasm in magnetically targeted tissues. In an oral cancer model, MC-delivered magnetically targeted saporin decreased tumor volume without significant body weight changes and no regrowth of tumor at 3 months after complete regression. A total of 140 patients with recurrent LOC eating approximately 6 months after bariatric surgery were randomly assigned (552 ratio) to one of three conditions gshCBT (n??=??56), gshBWL (n??=??60), or CON (n??=??24). Three-month treatments were delivered by trained allied health clinicians to increase generalizability to bariatric surgery settings. Independent assessments were performed by doctoral research-clinicians using established interviews/measures; posttreatment outcomes were obtained for 89% of patients.
Mixed models revealed significant improvements for LOC eating frequency and weight loss but no significant differences between treatments; race neither predicted (main effect) nor moderated (interaction effect) treatment outcomes. Intent-to-treat categorical analyses of abstinence from LOC eating (30% for gshCBT, 27% for gshBWL, 38% for CON) and proportion attaining 5% weight loss (20%, 22%, 17%) revealed no significant differences between treatments; non-White participants had a higher proportion achieving LOC eating abstinence but a lower proportion attaining 5% weight loss compared with White participants.
